The American Legion, Frank G. Frainier Post 90 in Los Alamos was informed of the death of Joseph Kosty on 07/02/2016 by phone call from his daughter.
Joe Kosty was a Korean War veteran of the US Air Force and joined the Post in 1962. He was a member of The American Legion for over 50 years. He and his family were long time Los Alamos residents. After the Air Force, he continued his service to the country and became a long-time Laboratory employee. In 2014 the Post was informed that due to severe dementia he could no longer handle his affairs and they requested we cancelled his membership and it was not renewed in 2015.
At Joes request, his family is returning his remains from Virginia to Los Alamos. Services will be held on Saturday, July 16th beginning with initial service at 7am at French Funeral home, 10500 Lomas Blvd, Albuquerque, NM 87112. An escort by the NMALR has been requested by the family from ABQ to Los Alamos Guaje Pines Cemetery. For those that are able to attend/support, please meet at 8AM. KSU 8:30 travel to Los Alamos for 10:30am graveside service with full honors.
Following the service, there will be a reception held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, McLaughlin Parish Hall (3700 Canyon Road).
