ABOUT THE MISSION:
SSgt Joseph D. Armbrust, US Army 175th Infantry Regiment attached to the 29th Infantry Division, was wounded June 1944, and for his wounds received the Purple Heart. SSgt Armbrust passed away in 1999 but the Purple Heart that he gave his blood to earn, was lost and ended up in a pawn shop in Newark, Ohio. Through much investigation SSgt Armbrust’s final resting place was found to be in Reynoldsburg and his Purple Heart will be returned to be buried with him during a ceremony by the Ohio Patriot Guard on September 7, 2019.
