The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by Infinity Hospice Care – Phoenix, and the Lessard family to participate in honoring Joseph Albert Lessard during the We Honor Veterans ceremony. Joseph Albert Lessard is a United States Navy Veteran. Joe served 3 years, 11 months, and 18 days including service in the Pacific theatre during WWII. Joe enlisted on July 30, 1943. Joe had qualifications and certifications in Combat Air Crew and Radar Operator. Joe completed service school education in Aviation Ordnance, A & B school, and Gunnery course. Joe served on VTB-3 – a torpedo bombing plane, OUT – Operational Training Unit, Torpedo Squadron, and aboard the USS Tarawa (LHA-1). The Tarawa was an amphibious assault ship, the lead ship of her class. On June 20, 1947, Joe was honorably discharged, having attained the rank of Aviation Ordnance man 2nd Class. Joe received the following for his service to our country: Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal; American Campaign Medal; World War II Victory Medal; Good Conduct Medal. At the age of 17, Joe signed on the dotted line and took the oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic to preserve the freedom and liberties we all enjoy today. Joe is a member of The Greatest Generation and a True Patriot. Joe epitomizes “service before self”.  It is our honor to stand in silent reverence as we show respect and gratitude to this hero for his sacrifices made for this nation.

Per OPSEC protocol, we will meet at this public location.
2:40 PM: Mission Briefing
2:45 AM: KSU to the private location.
2:50 PM: Set the flag line for our hero.
3:00 PM: We Honor Veterans ceremony begins.
Following CDC/Government guidelines/mandates and directives from our State Captain, the following precautions are to be followed:· All members are required to wear a face mask/cloth covering at all times during the mission. If you are unable to wear a mask, we ask that you stand down and stay home. There are no exceptions.· No handshakes, elbow bumps, or hugs for greetings and goodbyes.· If you feel ill or have a temperature, please stay home until you improve.· If you have a medical condition(s) that make you at high risk we ask that you please stand down until conditions improve.· Maintain a minimum of six-foot distance from other members when standing the flag line. Maintain at least 15 feet separation from all family members, cemetery personnel, Honor Guard, funeral home staff, clergy, etc.· Wash your hands before, during (as practical), and after the mission.· Water will be provided by the flag support person and passed out only by that person. No snacks will be provided by flag support and members should not bring any to share either.
