ABOUT THE MISSION:

John W. Barnett is a United States Army Veteran. John was inducted on Dec. 2, 19601. John was assigned to Battery “A” TGT (Target Acquisition Battalion) 26th Artillery. John was a Sound Ranging Crewman. As such, John used acoustic equipment, tables and charts to locate enemy gun placements. John spent 1 yr, 6 months and 27 days deployed overseas with the USAREUR (United States Army Europe). On Nov. 15, 1962, due to early separation of overseas returnees, John was transferred to the United States Army Reserve. On Dec. 1, 1966, having completed his term of service, John was honorably discharged, having attained the rank of PFC (Private First Class) E-3.
