The family of John Thomas Salles, Specialist, U.S. Army has requested the Patriot Guard Riders stand a flag line in Merced, CA and to escort John to his final rest in Snelling, CA. The PGR is honored to do so.
John served two years in the Army. While stationed in Afghanistan as a cavalry scout, he was injured in a helicopter crash. His mother Dossie Rocha tended to her son ever since John’s medical discharge.
Prior to enlisting in the Army, John graduated from the police academy in Fresno CA, served as a police officer in Dos Palos, CA, worked as a campus security officer in Los Banos, CA, then as a correctional officer for the Merced Sheriffs Department.
John became a military history buff and with his mother’s assistance, traveled to France to visit Normandy Beach and pay his respects to the fallen military of that war era.
John is survived by his mother Dossie Rocha, and several other family members.
THE MISSION: The PGR will arrive at Ivors Alcorn Funeral Home for a briefing at 0845 hours Wednesday May 4, 2016, set up a flag line for the family and friends entering the funeral chapel.
PGR members will again establish a flag line as John’s remains are honorably transferred to the coach.
Riders will escort the coach and family to Snelling CA community cemetery for final honors.
