Maple Valley, Washington – 12-05-19
ABOUT THE MISSION:
We will stand a flag line for MM2 John Swan, USN Seabees, at his Military Honors. Machinist Mate 2 John Swan was a member of our Greatest Generation and served honorably from 1943-1946. Prior to his enlistment in the Navy he was working in Panama in the Canal Zone. At some point during his service he was deployed to the South Pacific during the War but it’s unknown exactly what islands and campaigns he was a part of. He was Honorably Discharged and upon completing school he became an engineer, worked at Boeing, to include working on the 747 project and then retired after 25 years. During 1967-1969 he was working for Boeing at Cape Canaveral on the race to the moon. John also served at TNC providing honor details for other service members. His family has a strong history of service as his son and son-in-law were both Marines, with his son retiring as a Master Gunnery Sergeant after 29 years in. His Son-in-Law Dennis has ridden many Patriot Guard Rides himself and will also be riding with us in honor of his father-in-law. Join us to honor one of our country’s greatest generation and a true American hero and family of one of our own PGR family members.
