ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have the distinct honor and privilege to stand for and escort SFC John Rangel JR. SFC Rangel JR. enlisted in the US Army in 1956 as an Armorer/Unit Supply Specialist. During his service, he was deployed to Vietnam in 1965 and 1967 and was wounded in the Battle of Ia Drang, suffering a bullet wound that went through his cheek, neck, and back. His Commendations include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnam Service Campaign Medal (6 Campaigns), Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation (1 O/S Bar), Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Marksman (Rifle), and a Bronze Star Medal with V Device. As SFC Rangel JR once stood for us, we will now stand to Honor his Legacy.

We will stand a flag line as family and guests arrive for the 5 pm-7 pm Visitation.
Coronavirus precaution disclosure: Please bring a mask and wash hands often, be prepared to follow the guidelines from state and local officials as well as facility or cemetery guidelines to be outlined at the mission briefing.
A general record of attendees will be held by the ride captain for a period not to exceed 2 weeks in the case of the need for contact tracing. If you test positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of attending a mission please contact Ride Captain with that information, your name will not be disclosed.
Those who are sick, have a household member or other close contact who is sick should not attend and those who have a higher risk of severe illness should weigh the benefits of in-person attendance against the risk of exposure to a person with COVID-19, especially if recommendations for wearing masks and social distancing may be difficult to follow for themselves or others.
