John joined the US Army in May of 1968\, finished basic training and headed to specialty school to become a helicopter mechanic and crew chief. John served in Vietnam from 1968-1969. His brother Bob didn’t know what all the awards that John had earned were\, but remembered that he had the Vietnam Campaign Medal. John was born in Renton\, grew up in Kent and returned home after he got back from Vietnam. He was a member of the ALR post 15 in Kent. There will be a procession of riders\, friends and family leaving the post to escort the hero to his final resting place.
