Obituary:
John M. Murtha, 71, of Cypress, Texas passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016. He was preceded in death by both parents and both of his brothers. He is survived by his wife Linda and a sister. John joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was a forward observer during the Vietnam War (1967 -1968). He earned a number of medals and may have been wounded (some shrapnel was never removed according to his niece). When he was discharged in 1968 he held the rank of Corporal (E2).
John owned and operated his own business “Murtha Builders” until his death. His great love were his animals big and little, contributing many animal charities, with his home always having stray cats and dogs but he particularly loved dogs. John had a stubborn streak, a wicked Irish wit, a compassionate heart and deep abiding love for God and country, family and friends.
PLEASE COME OUT AND STAND PROUD FOR THIS AMERICAN HERO.
