Arlington National Cemetery
John “Jay” Paganelli, Retired

The family of CDR John “Jay” Paganelli has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to stand with them at his interment in Arlington National Cemetery.  CDR Paganelli died on 05 Jan. 2018 when he lost his battle with cancer. John was commissioned May 1968 from the USN Academy and was a Vietnam combat pilot. After completion of his last tour (Japan) he left active duty and became a pilot and line check airman for United Airlines. Following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11th, 2001, he volunteered to return to active duty and served in a joint capacity at the Central Command in support of Operation Enduring Freredom.  John’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Medal. He accumulated over 4,500 tactical jet hours and 900 carrier landings.
