ABOUT THE MISSION:

Brothers and Sisters of the PGR and Friends, it is with a heavy heart that I come to you today with a call to once again stand silent and proud for one who stood for us. We will answer this call as always, with Honor and Respect.Capt. John Walter Davis served his country honorably for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps before retiring. During his time in the Corps he served one tour in Vietnam where he received 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Presidential Unit Citation. John was a an officer that earned his place, serving as an enlisted man up to the rank of SSgt. before going Warrent Officer. He worked his way up to CWO-3 before being commissioned as a 2nd Lt. and earning his way up to Capt. before retiring in 1973. We have been asked by John’s wife of 62 years to stand a flag line in his honor on the 8th of August 2019 for his visitation and funeral service to be conducted at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 1115 Lejeune Blvd. Jacksonville NC 28540. The visitation willbe from 10:00 am – 11:00 am with the funeral service to follow immediately after. We have also been requested to escort Capt. Upon arrival at the cemetery we will dismount and form a flag line for the Graveside service. Upon completion of the service we will stand down and quietly depart the area. This will be a single day event.Staging: at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 1115 Lejeune Blvd. Jacksonville NC 285408:45 am – Briefing and set flags9:15 am – Establish flag line for family9:45 am – establish flag line for guests11:05 am – Stand down flag line and prep for honors and escort11:40 am APROX – Honors and begin escort12:00 pm – Graveside service at the cemetery beginsLink to the Church:https://goo.gl/maps/zt7HvmboN7iuj7EA8George Hayden will be the RCIC for this mission.George “OleIrish” HaydenNC Patriot Guard RidersADC, Southeastern DistrictChiefcoper@gmail.com252-945-0924Ed “Gunner” FaudeNCPGR, ASC Southeast Districtfoxtracehunter@yahoo.com910-548-1663 **SPECIAL NOTE: Safety is of our utmost priority. Every effort possible is made in planning and executing the PGR Mission statement in a manner that minimizes the inherit dangers of riding a motorcycle, including riding in groups of all sizes and any situation. While the NCPG, and it’s riders have a remarkable safety record in the execution of our missions, infrequently members have been injured in unforeseen accidents. In an effort to mitigate the risk of preventable accidents, all attendees who wish to ride in a Patriot Guard motorcycle escort or ride are asked to attend the pre-mission briefing. It will include a safety briefing, and any unique ride information known to our RCIC that may be specific to the mission. Member safety and well-being is always a principal ongoing concern, our RCIC’s are asked to stand-down from any mission that cannot be accomplished in relative safety or unreasonable risk. This includes both rides and flag lines in inclement weather and conditions. It remains each individual PGR member’s responsibility to ride within their own comfort zone and be cognizant of their surroundings and skill limitations as well as any physical needs or limitations. If the ride and/or mission conditions present challenges beyond your skill, comfort, or needs you are expected to exercise good judgment in foregoing any planned participation.
