Honor Mission
John Horace Beauford, Sr. , Veteran
Spartanburg, South Carolina – 09-13-20

Mr. Horace Beauford, Sr. has died. He was 96 years old and a veteran of Word War II. Mr. Beauford was a Patriot and a Soldier. When he was 19 years old he drove a tank off a Land Ship-Tank (LST) and onto the shore at Utah Beach in Normandy. It was June 6, 1944 and the Normandy invasion was underway. He fought through France later manning a .50 caliber machine gun mounted on a jeep. His unit was a part of Patton’s Third Army as they crossed the Rhine and pushed into Germany. As the war in Europe wound down, he again boarded a transport ship bound for Japan. He was aboard that ship awaiting orders to move into Japan when he learned of the Japanese surrender and the end of World War II. We have the privilege, at the request of his family, to conduct an Honor Mission for this American Hero on Sunday. Each of you will be proud to say that you were there when this man is laid to rest.
