ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of CMSgt John D. Jones, Jr., 59, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders participate in his committal shelter service. CMSGT Jones retired after 31 years 8 months of service in the United States Air Force and earned the Meritorious Service Medal w/3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit and Award w/Valor w/7 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/7 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Device, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Overseas ST Ribbon w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Overseas LT Ribbon w/6 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Training Ribbon, Foreign Decoration, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Devise, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. John served 8-2-90 to 9-30-92 in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Veteran Jones died a number of years ago at age 59. He is now being transferred to his final resting place at the Omaha National Cemetery.
