Ensign John C. England
USN WWII Veteran
Colorado Springs, CO
13 AUG 16

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to ride and stand in honor of Ensign England on Saturday, 13 August for his escort from Springs Funeral Home 3115 E. Platte Ave. Colorado Springs 80909, to Evergreen Cemetery 1005 So. Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs 80903 for the Re-Interment Service scheduled for 1000 (10:00 AM.)

Ensign England was aboard the USS Oklahoma in Pearl Harbor, HI on 07 December, 1941 and died on his 4th trip to rescue trapped crew. He was supposed to have been off duty but had traded with another officer so that he could spend time with his wife and brand new infant daughter when they arrived at Pearl Harbor later that month. He never saw his daughter. He survived the torpedo hits to the Oklahoma and even it’s capsizing. But then was killed after already returning to the ship three times rescuing other crewmen who were trapped. He was buried in the Punchbowl in Hawaii with another officer. Last year, the Navy exhumed the grave, identified the remains returning them to the family. His two granddaughters are having him re-interred in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs on Saturday, 13 August. Ensign England would have turned 21 on 11 December, 1941.
