ABOUT THE MISSION:

Sgt Underwood served in the U.S. Army 2 years and then retired from the Ellis County Sheriff Office after 28 years. The Underwood Family has asked the PGR to stand a flag line at the funeral, be part of the procession to the interment and stand a flag line at the cemetery.

Special Instructions:

Riders will stage at J E Keever Mortuary. After the briefing, riders will stand tall and silent in the flag line as family and friends arrive. Once the service begins, we will return the flags to the flag truck, hold a riders safety brief and prepare for the procession to the cemetery. Ennis PD will escort to the city limits. It is unclear if Ellis county Sheriffs Dept. will escort to the cemetery. We may be asked to provide military honors at the grave site. Riders who can only attend the interment service see part two.

Special Instructions:

Riders not attending the funeral service will stage at Elm Branch Cemetery at 1000 hrs., assist setting the flag line and wait for the procession to arrive. Procession riders will dismount quickly and render honors as Sgt. Underwood is moved to the interment site. After the service ends, at the RCs discretion, flags will be returned to the flag truck, riders debriefed and dismissed. Please hydrate starting the night before.

I will forever be grateful for his service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. Rest easy now, Sir…those you have left behind to carry on without you have the watch.
