The family of Jesus (Jess) H. Cerda has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.

We have lost another Hero from our Greatest Generation. Jess was born in Santa Monica on November 19, 1924 and entered Eternal Rest on 03 May 2016.

Jess was the oldest of four children. He attended University High School in West Los Angeles and enlisted in the Army in 1943.

Jess proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII in Africa, Italy and Germany with the 3rd Armored Division. He was in Patton’s march through France, Ardennes, and to the Rhine River. Included in some of his numerous citations were the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medals.

After his honorable discharge as a TEC4, Jess worked for Cement Masons Southern California as a cement mason. As an excellent cement mason, he enjoyed helping others building their patios and enlarging their living space.

During the Vietnam conflict, Jess was called to serve as an instructor, teaching men in Vietnam how to pour concrete and build airstrips. He was a cement instructor for the U.S. Government in South Vietnam from 1965 to 1968.

Jess is survived by his wife Jessie Abelar, two sons and daughter. He also leaves behind his grandchildren.

Please arrive quietly as services will be in progress.
