Jerry Porter Moore, Retired, Veteran
USAF – WWII, Korea

Mr. J.P. Moore entered the Officer Candidate school, Army Air Force 21 Oct. 1943, the day after the attack of Pearl Harbor, WWII. He left college football under Coach Paul “ Bear “ Bryant at Vanderbilt to join the service. After the war ended the Air Force sent him back to Vanderbilt where he completed his degree in electrical engineering. Upon graduation Mr. Moore was drafted by the legendary George Halas to play football for the Chicago Bears, but chose instead to continue his career in the military. He was awarded the Bronze Star in 1956 for his work in Communications during the Korean War. Mr. Moore Honorably retired at the rank of Lt. Col. in 1966, having served 23 years 9 months 18 days. Part of his many awards include; ACM, WWII VM, AOM ( Japan ), ACR, KSM, BS, UNSM, NDSM,AFLSA W/4 BOLC, SAEMR. After military retirement Mr.Moore went to work for the University Of Arkansas . Nearly 20 years later he retired again and became an avid golfer. Mr. Moore Is survived by the the love of his life for 76 years, four children, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren..
