ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of CWO4 James Russell Murphy, 76, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to stand a silent flag line at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered. CWO Murphy obtained his pilot’s license and flew several different aircraft. Some of his duties were Fixed Wing Section Leader, Instrument Instructor, Safety Officer, Maintenance Officer, and Drug and Alcohol Abuse Officer. He received a Purple Heart for wounds suffered when he was shot down by the VC in RVN. He escaped capture and was rescued by the SAR. After his time in the service, he flew for Trans State Airlines and Rio Airways. In his younger days, he worked with the St. Louis County Police Department from 1964-1965.
