Sadly we are asked to stand a Flag Line to Honor James L. Campbell, SGT, US Army, who served during the Korean War. He served with A Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division as part of the 31st Regimental Combat Team. They were deployed east of the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea, when they were engaged by overwhelming numbers of Chinese forces. At the end of the battle, Sgt. Campbell could not be accounted for and was reported MIA on 2 December 1950. He was declared KIA on 31 December 1953 and posthumously promoted to Sergeant.
SGT Campbell was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Presidential Unit Citation (Navy), Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea-Korean War Service Medal and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
SGT Campbell will be interred with Full Military Honors in his home town of Waterford, CT. We will provide a Full Flag Motorcycle Escort from the funeral home to the cemetery.
Assistant State Captain Jack Casey will be RCIC and Flags and water will be on site.
