ABOUT THE MISSION:

We have been requested to stand for MSG James L Barrett as he stood for us during his Memorial Service. MSG Barrett retired with 30 years of service to the US Army in 2000, receiving numerous medals to include the Purple Heart. While in Vietnam, PFC Barrett was a tank operator and the sole survivor of an attack on his tank, all his crew including his best friend were killed in the attack and he was severely wounded. He was able to escape capture and fought his way to safety. After retirement he went to work for Duke University.
