James Jones Mercer, Jr., Veteran
Jacksonville, Florida – 07-07-20


The family of U.S. Navy BM3 James Jones Mercer, Jr. (66) graciously requests that the Patriot Guard Riders escort him and his family from Lannie Road Baptist Church to his final resting place at Jacksonville National Cemetery and render honors during his memorial service. Mr. Mercer served his country honorably for 4 years active and 2 years reserve. He served during the Iranian hostage crisis aboard the USS Alamo (LSD-33), and following his service, he was a member of the U.S. Merchant Marines during Operation Desert Storm. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Battle “E” Ribbon, and Sea Service Ribbon.
He was a longtime resident of Middleburg, FL, where he operated a painting and pressure washing business.
