Hughesville, Pennsylvania – 09-28-19
ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of WWII Army Veteran, Private James I. Trick. asked that we stand and honor his service to our country. Private James Irvin Trick will be laid to rest with full military honors in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 75 years after he was declared MIA during World War II. He was accounted for July 8, 2019. Pvt. Trick was a member of Company M, 3rd Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, which was engaged against German forces in the 50-square-mile Hurtgen Forest, near Germeter, Germany. He was killed by enemy shrapnel on Nov. 4, 1944, while making a second trip bringing ammunition forward for his unit’s heavy machine gun. Pvt. Trick was one of 30,000 casualties in the Hurtgen, which combatants dubbed “the Death Factory” and journalists called “the Green Hell.” He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star. James is memorialized at Walls of the Missing, American War Cemetery, Margraten, Holland. His name also appears on at least one World War II memorial in Lycoming County. We will be escorting him to his final rest. There we will stand in silent honor of his service to this Nation. PVT. James I. Trick is a true patriot who served our country with honor and now it’s our turn to stand and honor him.
