DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nJames Gerald Cates\, POW/MIA\, KIA\nUSA – Korea\nSaraland\, Alabama – 09-21-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nFellow Riders\, another Korean War Veteran has been identified after 69 years and was returned to Mobile\, AL on 10 September 2019 after being an unknown until May 31\, 2019. Master Sergeant Cates was a member of Company I\, 3rd Battalion\, 31st Infantry Regiment\, 7th Infantry Division. He was originally listed as MIA while fighting the enemy in North Korea on December 3\, 1950\, in the Chosin Reservoir\, and then presumed dead on December 31\, 1953. He was known to his family as “Jabbo.” His reported DOD last known home of record was Fort Benning\, Georgia. He was the son of James W. Cates and Mollie or Nellie M. Cates. It shall be our honor to stand a flag line during visitation and then escort him from Radney Funeral Home\, Saraland\, AL to Turnerville Cemetery on Roberts Road. Saraland Police to provide escort.
