Covan earned the following awards during his service: National Defense Service Medal w/ First Oak Leaf Cluster\, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Device\, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd Award)\, Vietnam Service Medal w/5 Bronze Stars\, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm\, Bronze Star Medal\, Meritorious Service Medal\, Oversea Service Bars\, Good Conduct Medal (Air Force).
