ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard has been invited by the Family of MAJ. James E. Covan, United States Army, to stand in his honor and escort him to the Barrancas National Cemetery. MAJ. Covan served four years in the United States Air Force and served in the United States Army from 24 May 1960 to 23 May 1976.MAJ. Covan earned the following awards during his service: National Defense Service Medal w/ First Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Device, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd Award), Vietnam Service Medal w/5 Bronze Stars, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Oversea Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal (Air Force). Honors will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, at 1200. LEO escort will be provided.

Special Instructions:

Naval Air Station requires long sleeve shirts, long trousers, long-fingered gloves, DOT Approved helmets, leather footwear covering the ankles, and appropriate eye protection. This attire will always be worn while riding aboard the base.
