Honor Mission
James Derrick Richardson, Retired

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of James D. Richardson, 64, has requested the PGR to stand in honor of their loved one. Mr. Richardson served as a Mortar Man, Military Police and a Drill Instructor during his 23 year duty. He retired as a Gunnery Sergeant, (E7) in November 1997. He left behind three sons, one daughter, and eight grandchildren. He earned the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (6 stars), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Certificate of Commendation, Sharpshooter Rifle Badge and the Sharpshooter Pistol Badge. He served his country well. Now, let’s stand for someone who stood for us.

We will hold the flag line with rotation as necessary until the service begins.
We will then stand down and prepare for the escort to Beaufort National Cemetery.

We need to be prepared to depart anytime after 12:15, but the departure is planned for 12:30.

Special Instructions:

We will establish a flag line for the interment of the hero. We will also render honors upon moving the hero into the committal shelter. If it appears the escort will be running late, Ray “Fireball” Richards shall do the brief and stand by for the arrival of the escort. In this case, those doing the escort will position themselves to render honors, and then will fall in with the rest of the patriots.
