Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders, we have been requested to stand for James C. Belott, age 89. James was the father-in-law to a local PGR member. He was born in Roseburg, attended the old St. Francis Academy in Portland, and was a graduate of Washington High School. In the early years he worked with his father and brother for the U.S. Forest Service. For two summers he herded a band of sheep in the Cascade Range.
James was a Seaman 1st Class and served aboard the US Whippet, an Armadillo Class Tanker stationed out of the Philippines. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and Philippines Liberation Medal.
After the war he worked for the Army Corp of Engineers for 35 years, and 10 years with FEMA working on disasters around the nation. He was proceeded in death by Margaret, his wife of 65 years. Please join us as we help support his family, pay our respects, and honor his service to our nation.
