ABOUT THE MISSION:

James “Big Jimmy” Donald Steen, of Garden City SC, passed away on 5/29/2020. He was born in Hartsville, South Carolina and served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956. He served with 566th T Company at Ft. Eustis VA. He also served in the Navy from1958-1961and served on the USS Pawcatuck (AO-108). The family will have a celebration of life on Tuesday June 2, 2020.This will be a two day, two stage mission.

Briefing: 1:45 PM
We will stand the flag line from 2:00PM to 3:00 PM, during visitation, then stand down during the service. Once the service starts we will stand and the low 80’s please hydrate. Additional Special Instructions for PGR missions during the COVID-19 virus, we will abide by all rules and regulations set by the CDC and the State of South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Each attendee is responsible to bring a personnel face-covering. It does not have to be an actual mask, any sort of covering will be sufficient, as we will be setting an example that “We are observing all CDC recommendations regarding COVID-19”. Wearing of the mask is optional but you need to have one if required. In keeping with the requirements of the State of South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs, PGR members will maintain at least a six-foot distance between each other during the briefing and flag line. We are also instructed to be no closer than forty feet from the family funeral tent.

Briefing: 12:45 PM
We will have KSU between 11:30 and 12:00 PM for a 2:00 PM arrival at Florence National Cemetery.Upon arrival 10 PGR go to the second entrance gate and park along the road and walk up to render Honors at FNC. Only 10 bikes will be able to take the left to go to the second entrance. If you have a passenger, that will count as two Bikes. This is the guidelines given by FNC to abide by the rules and regulations set by CDC and the State of South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs during COVID-19. Those that ride thru the cemetery will depart FNC. For those that want to wait for those that stand at the cemetery, we will meet them at the Wendy’s back at E Palmetto St, Florence SC to ride back together. Temperatures are going to be in the Mid 80’s please hydrate.
