ABOUT THE MISSION:
SGT James Allen Slape, 23, US Army NG (AD) of Morehead City, NC, died 4 Oct 2018 as he worked to clear an area of explosives in southern Helmand province in Afghanistan. He was an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, assigned to the 430th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 60th Troop Command, North Carolina Army National Guard, based in Washington, NC. He deployed in April 2018, was due to return home in the spring of 2019. He is survived by his wife, Shawn Marie Slape, and a large and loving family. SGT James A. Slape is to be interred on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery on 24 May 2019 at approximately 11:00 am from the Administration Building. PGR has been invited to attend the services by his mother Patricia Slape and we will be there to stand tall, silent and proud in honor of this US Army National Guard Combat Soldier and EOD Technician, his family, friends and comrades at arms.
