ABOUT THE MISSION:
Major Dyess initially enlisted in the US Air Force on 29 June 1959 and achieved an over 20 year military career, retiring from the US Army on 31 July 1979. He was a US Army Engineer, served two combat tours in Vietnam, earning: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/1 OLC, Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Reserved Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 bronze service stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and numerous Letters of Commendation.

Prior to the riders briefing at the Visitor Center, four honor bikes will be selected to accompany the coach to Committal Shelter A. After the riders briefing, the PGR will stand the flag line at the designated shelter.
Upon conclusion of the Service, the flags will be furled and returned to storage, followed by rider debrief and dismissal.
