Jack served in the US Marine Corps from 20 January 1954 to 24 January 1957 in Headquarters & Service Co\, 3rd Service Regiment\, 3rd Marine Division\, Camp Courtney\, Okinawa as a Mess Cook. He was Honorably Discharged at the rank of CPL (E4) and earned the National Defense Service Medal.
