Mr. Martinez enlisted in the United States Army in 1950. He was captured during the Korean War and held as a prisoner for three years. He retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. His awards include the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal; United Nations Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Sharpshooter Medal (rifle).

Flag line from 8:30 to 9:00 am.
A face mask is required for anyone entering the facility to render honors or to use the restroom. In the absence of the Army Honor Guard, PGR will fold and present the flag. After the service begins, flags will be returned to the support vehicle. There will be a safety briefing for riders participating in the procession to DFW National Cemetery, where the graveside interment scheduled for 11:15 am will take place. Upon arrival at the entrance to the staging lanes, Riders not needing to use the restroom facilities will make a U turn and exit the cemetery.
*NOTE: Mr. Martinez is the great uncle of Sal Ruiz, owner of Texas Motorcade Escort Service.
