ABOUT THE MISSION:
The Patriot Guard will honor Mr. Howell G. Hammond, 93, of Chambersburg, PA, by standing a flag-line in his honor, at his service at Rest Haven FH/Church, of Hagerstown, MD, on December 12, 2019, and then escort him a short distance to his final resting place at the same location. Seaman 1st Class Hammond died on December 4th, 2019. He enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 and served from 1944 to 1946. He was a Seaman 1st Class aboard the USS Grumium, AVS-3 an aviation supply ship, supplying Carrier Groups off the coast of Okinawa. He was very proud of his service to our country which he deemed his greatest achievement! He was a member of American Legion Post 42 and Past President of the WWII Last Man’s Club of that post. He is survived by a large and loving family, who deeply miss him.

Set flag-line at adjacent cemetery, as mourners arrive for interment. This is a flag-line only event. You may cage to it. Please bring 3×5 Flags, dress and hydrate accordingly.

Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.
