Howard Warren Comment

  1. Mission Complete:3 July 2020 – Sgt Howard Warren, USMC Vietnam Veteran, OCPD (Ret), Purcell, OK.

On this hot and muggy summer afternoon 23 Patriot Guard Riders on 19 bikes and 2 cages attended the mission to honor the military service of Sgt. Howard Warren, USMC Vietnam Veteran, OCPD (Ret).

The area surrounding the Chapel was staked and flagged as we awaited the arrival of the family and friends.

The briefing was read followed by a moment of silence for the Blue, Silver & Gold Star families, POWs and MIAs. We did have one new rider attend today, who was presented with a First Ride pin.

The PGR stood the Flag Line with the USMC Flag and American Flag in front of the entry door. The entrance was manned by PGR as family and friends arrived for the service. When the service started, PGR members returned the flags to the flag vehicle.

When the service concluded PGR members and the OCPD Honor Guard formed a Respect Line as the Hero was moved from the Chapel to the coach. Led by Purcell PD Officers, the PGR accompanied The Hero, his family and friends to Hillside Cemetery for the grave side ceremony.

Upon arrival at the cemetery, the Riders formed another Respect Line as the Hero was moved from the coach to the bier. The Minister said a few words, then gave a prayer. The USMC Honor Guard played Taps; The OCPD Honor Guard did a 3 round volley; The USMC Honor Guard folded the flag covering the casket and presented to the spouse, and the OCPD Honor Guard presented two pre-folded flags to the two daughters.

Following the Military and OCPD Honors, the RCIC and ARC thanked the family for allowing us to celebrate the life of their Hero. The PGR Plaque and framed Invocation were read and presented to the spouse, and framed Invocations were also presented to the Hero’s daughters.

Thanks to the Patriot Guard Riders that took time out of their day to honor this Hero. The family and friends were very appreciative of the PGR presence and thanked us for being there.

Above all, thank you Sgt. Howard Warren for your service to this great nation. Rest in Peace Sir, your mission is accomplished, and you will never be forgotten.

    RCIC Dennis “D2” Raath
    ARC Judith “Alitlemischief” Van Metre
