The family of Corporal Matthew Britten Phillips has graciously invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand with them again in honor of Corporal Matthew Britten Phillips. Corporal Philips was one of nine soldiers killed in The Battle of Wanat in Afghanistan on July 13th, 2008. He was a member of the U.S. Army’s 2nd Platoon. “Chosen Company”, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. His unit was just days away from the end of a 15 month deployment when they were attacked by the Taliban.
While in the U.S. Army, Corporal Phillips was the recipient of the Bronze Star medal with one bronze oak leaf. He also had received the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, the GWOT (Global War on Terror) Medal, the Army Service Medal, the Army Overseas Ribbon and the NATO Medal.

We will have a flag line for the unveiling of the sign at the High School (which Corporal Phillips attended) and then we will escort the family to the intersection (McEver Rd and Mundy Mill) to see the standing signs.
We will have LEO and Hall County Fire Dept. to help us with this mission.
