WWII veteran Dr. E. Bruce Heilman
The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to escort WWII veteran Dr. E. Bruce Heilman through Utah on his journey to Richmond, VA.
Dr. Heilman, who served as a young Marine during the battle of Okinawa, will ride more than 6,000 miles from the West Coast to the East Coast to raise public awareness about the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He will be riding in honor of the more than 2,000 heroes who died that day.
PART ONE:
We have the honor of escorting him through the Utah leg of his journey. We will be meeting him in Wendover, UT on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 3:00 PM.
**We will be riding straight through to Wendover, 115 miles, so be sure to gas up at staging.**
The ride captain for this mission will be Dave Richardson and he can be reached at: 801-641-6009.
Staging: 12:15 PM at Chevron Gas Station, 4025 W 1820 S, SLC.
KSU: 12:45 PM
**On the return trip we will be stopping at the Flying J Travel Plaza on 8636 Hwy 36 in Lakepoint. If you are not able to attend the initial escort you can join us there to finish the escort to Salt Lake. We should be arriving there between 4:45 and 5:00 PM. We will stop for a 30 minute break for fuel and to pick up additional riders.**
Weather: Mostly sunny with a high of 85. Please dress accordingly and keep yourself hydrated.
**We will be traveling through the desert with no chase vehicle so please bring hydration with you.**
PART TWO:
We have the honor of escorting him through the Utah leg of his journey. We will be escorting him to Evanston, WY on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 8:00 AM.
**We will be riding straight through to Evanston, 85 miles, so be sure to gas up at staging.**

Staging: 7:30 AM at Crystal Inn Hotel & Suites, 2254 City Center Ct, West Valley City.
KSU: 8:00 AM
**If you are not able to attend the initial escort you can join us at the Echo Canyon Rest Area Eastbound, near mile marker 170. We should be arriving there between about 9:00 AM. We will not be stopping so keep an eye peeled for the group. We’ll honk as we go by.**
Weather: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and a high of 63. Please dress accordingly and keep yourself hydrated.
