The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to participate and stand a Flag Line for a Bridge Dedication Ceremony on 13 May 2016 in honor of Lt. Colonel Michael McLaughlin U.S. Army who was killed in the line of duty. Also being honored are all Americans Past and Present who have served to make our country what it is today.
Last November, Representative Kathy Rapp led an effort (HB1579) to have the bridge that carries US Rt. 62 and PA Rt. 36 across the Allegheny River at Tionesta renamed as the “ Lt. Col. Michael McLaughlin / AMVETS Post 113 Memorial Bridge”.
The official ceremony and unveiling of the signs will take place at 1 P.M. at the Tionesta Visitor Center beginning with a 105mm Cannon volley from the 107th Field Artillery Battery based in Oil City. Guest speakers will be both Military and Civilian dignitaries. At the conclusion of the Ceremony, TAPS will be played and another Cannon volley will be fired downstream from the bridge. The ceremony is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend to show their support for our Veterans.
