The Patriot Guard Riders will be conducting a flag retirement ceremony on Saturday, this Memorial Day weekend. The ceremony will be held on Quantico National Cemetery, 18428 Joplin Rd, Triangle VA 22172. QNC is a short 30 miles from the Pentagon and just 1.5 miles off Interstate 95 Exit 150B.
The flag of the United States of America is an honored symbol of our nation’s unity, its hopes, its achievements, its glory and its high resolve. When the flag is in such condition, through wear or damage, that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it shall be destroyed in a dignified manner befitting such a symbol.
There will be 4 ceremonies, each lasting 45 minutes. The first starts at 1200 sharp and each subsequent ceremony will start on the hour. If you are in the DC area attending other events and have an American flag, your state’s flag, or a US service flag in need of retirement please bring it.
Participants are requested to wear long sleeve red shirts. A Facebook event has been created named 3rd Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony.
