The Patriot Guard Riders have been honored with an invitation when Operation Finally Home and Pulte Group honor yet another deserving veteran and his family.

SSgt. David R. Veros, Jr. joined the U.S. Air Force in January 2004. His father a Marine, Veros grew up full of pride for the sacrifices his father made for their family and the country. After September 11, Veros felt obligated to join the military to also serve. He was determined to give himself and his family a better life through his service.

Veros deployed to Iraq a total of six times, each deployment lasting six months. He spent a total of three years, three months, and 27 days serving in Iraq. During his sixth deployment, Veros was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED). As a result of the incident, he was diagnosed with combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and a traumatic brain injury (TBI), among other disabilities. Veros actively seeks treatment from the local VA Hospital and is cared for daily by his wife, Carolyn.

Over his eight years of military service, Veros earned numerous awards. He has been honored with a Purple Heart, an Air Force Commendation Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, an Air Force Achievement Medal with valor, an Air Force Combat Action Medal with one gold star, and a Meritorious Unit Award, among many others. Veros’ exemplary leadership and bravery was also recognized in the book “Defending Air Bases in an Age of Insurgency” by Col. Shannon Caudill.

He works as a Warrior Coordinator for the Wounded Warrior Project, helping other service men and women transition into civilian life. Now, the Veros family will be presented the keys and become new homeowners in Jacksonville, Florida, thanks to Operation FINALLY HOME and Pulte Group’s Built to Honor program.
