Patriot Guard Riders

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders,

We have been invited to attend the USS Indianapolis “Still at Sea” presentation created and presented by Kimberly Roller, honorary member of the survivors group. The USS Indianapolis was torpedoed on 30 JUL 1945 at 14 minutes after midnight. The crew was forced to abandon ship as it sank within minutes of being hit. The survivors were in shark infested water and endured shark attacks, starvation and exposure for four days before being accidentally seen; the heroism of the rescue was nothing short of amazing.

In attendance will be:

John Woolston, one of 317 Survivors of USS Indianapolis sinking. John spent 5 days in the ocean with sharks before being accidentally spotted and rescued.

Atsuko Lida, Grandaughter of Mochitsura Hashimoto, Commander of the Japanese submarine that sank the Indy.

Alexes Shuman, Daughter of Adrian Marks, The pilot of the PBY rescue plane who picked up John Woolston and 55 other Survivors.

880 of their fellow sailors perished. Today, we have only 23 of them left. John will be in attendance of the commemoration to Honor his WWII shipmates who perished.

Please join with me as we stand and Honor these crew members that gave of themselves for our country and way of life. Additionally we have been asked to provide an Honor ride for the Guests of Honor from Staging to the Museum.
