SUMMARY:HOTH
DESCRIPTION:My Fellow Patriot Guard Riders\n\n\n\nThe Patriot Guard Riders have been requested\, for the 6th year\, by families and soldiers at Fort Lee\, VA to lead them on the opening lap for their “Run for the Fallen.” \n \n\nA little history on how this started \nONE MILE FOR EVERY SERVICE MEMBER KILLED\nIN OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM & OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM\n\n\nOn Flag Day\, June 14\, 2008\, a dedicated team of runners ran across America from Fort Irwin\, CA to Arlington National Cemetery\, one mile for every Soldier\, Sailor\, Airmen\, and Marine killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. For ten weeks\, team members marked each mile with an American flag and signed card in an apolitical reflection of remembrance of each service member. \nEach year since the run across America\, runners from around the world have joined Run for the Fallen in remembering our fallen. Over 50\,000+ participants and over 200\,000+ miles have been collectively run in remembrance of those fallen in OIF and OEF. \nThe soldiers at Fort Lee and many of the local area families of Virginia that lost a loved one will be running this day. \nLet us show our Honor & Respect for those that “Gave All” \nStage: 11 June 2016 / 0730 Denny’s Restaurant 5111 Oaklawn Blvd Hopewell\, VA 23860 \nBrief: 0750 \nKSU: 0810 for a short ride to the Football Stadium where the Run for the Fallen ceremony will be held. \nWe will be on a military installation so wear the following (full finger gloves / long sleeve shirt or jacket / ankle high boots / eye protection if you do not have a windshield). Have a picture ID ready to show at the gate in case they ask for it. Reflective gear is required to be worn 24 X 7 on Fort Lee\, VA. (No Fire Arms are permitted.) \nWeather: Hopefully sunshine\, too far out to tell. \nFlags will be provided but bring your 3X5 American hand held flag if you have one because we may not have enough to go around. \nApproximately 0930 we will mount our Iron Horses to lead the families of those American Heroes that gave their all for us. Behind the families will be the soldiers and others that will be doing the run. \nRide Captain:\nHugh Horne\nh.horne@comcast.net \nAssistant Ride Captain:\nJim “DaBears” McGinley\njbmcginley48@msn.com\n757-768-2437 \nRun for the Fallen Time Line \n0830 – PGR arrives (Football Field) \n0830-0900hrs: Music plays (singing ensemble) \n0855 – Set Flag Line \n0900-0901hrs: Welcome (MC) \n0901-0903hrs: National Anthem \n0903-0905hrs: Invocation by Chaplain \n0905-0906hrs: Introduction of Garrison Commander \n0906-0911hrs: Garrison Commander remarks \n0911-0913hrs: Introduction of Speaker (GC) \n0913-0927hrs: Run for the Fallen Speaker \n0927-0928hrs: Presentation of gift to speaker and Patriot Guard (Mrs. Parker) \n0928-0930hrs: MC reviews procedures and introduces Patriot Guard \n0930-0945hrs: Patriot Guard leads 1st lap with Survivors
