Patriot Guard Riders

My PGR Brothers, Sisters and Friends, we have been asked to stand tall and proud once again. This time we have been given the honor of standing for those who stood for us and received Purple Hearts for their Bravery. I ask each and every one who can possibly make it to this mission to come join us in honoring these brave individuals as they arrive for the evening’s events.

On SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 2016, A NIGHT OF HONOR & SPECIAL RECOGNITION will take place at the NEW BERN RIVERFRONT CONVENTION CENTER.

The Coastal Carolina Purple Heart Dinner Committee will hold its Inaugural Purple Heart Dinner at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center to Honor Purple Heart recipients, Goldstar Mothers and their families.

The evening will feature a Purple Heart Honoree Private Reception, a * Walk of Honor * and a Seated Dinner.

PGR and PHG will post and stand Flags outside the Convention Center prior to the Honorees arrival. The Medal of Honor Recipient will be arriving at 16:00 ( 4:00 pm ). The Purple Heart Recipients Reception begins at 17:00 ( 5:00pm ) and is slated to go for 1 hr. The Walk of Honor will begin at 18:00 (6:00 pm ) and will be immediately followed by the Seated Dinner, at which time we will stand down .

We will stage in the parking lot of Union Point Park, directly across from the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. The entrance to the park is at the corner of East and South Front St.

15:50 Establish Flag Line to Welcome Medal Of Honor Recipient (we will stand down after his arrival until 16:15)
16:15 Re-establish Flag Line
18:15 Stand Down

**SPECIAL NOTE: Safety is of our utmost priority. Every effort possible is made in planning and executing the PGR Mission statement in a manner that minimizes the inherit dangers of riding a motorcycle, including riding in groups of all sizes and any situation. While the NCPG, and it’s riders have a remarkable safety record in the execution of our missions, infrequently members have been injured in unforeseen accidents. In an effort to mitigate the risk of preventable accidents, all attendees who wish to ride in a Patriot Guard motorcycle escort or ride are asked to attend the pre-mission briefing. It will include a safety briefing, and any unique ride information known to our RCIC that may be specific to the mission. Member safety and well-being is always a principal ongoing concern, our RCIC’s are asked to stand-down from any mission that cannot be accomplished in relative safety or unreasonable risk. This includes both rides and flag lines in inclement weather and conditions. It remains each individual PGR member’s responsibility to ride within their own comfort zone and be cognizant of their surroundings and skill limitations as well as any physical needs or limitations. If the ride and/or mission conditions present challenges beyond your skill, comfort, or needs you are expected to exercise good judgment in foregoing any planned participation.
