The Patriot Guard Riders have been graciously invited by Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the BPOE Lodge 366 to assist in the safe and secure transit and care of numerous patients of the VA hospital, from the VA facility to an outdoor event in Hampton on Saturday 6 August 2016. All contacts have been made and this is a go.
These are all Veterans who are currently residents of the medical facility, some of whom get very limited time outdoors and specifically at any type of public recreational event. Our role will be that of non-medical assistants to the medical staff during their time at the event, in addition to providing an escort from the hospital to the VIP section of the event. The escort will involve several buses in addition to other vehicles making a short transit.
There will be medical personnel assigned to each patient requiring high levels of support while we will take on the role of supporters for those patients who are ambulatory. We will be there as a support group only. While Iron Horses are preferred, there will be dedicated parking for us as a group with some space provided both for bikes and cages.
It has already been stated that this will have a huge positive impact on our Brothers and Sisters currently inpatient at this facility. Please take some time out your schedules to help make this a great day!
