PTSD Veterans’ Escort
Friday
05 Aug 2016
Montgomery, AL

Fellow PGR Riders,

Patriot Guard Riders has been invited by the American Legion, Department of Alabama to join them in support of a Veterans’ retreat to assist veterans suffering from the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder. The American Legion is sponsoring this event; the YMCA has dedicated their Camp Chandler facility to host this event; Central Alabama Health Care System (CAVHCS) is providing counselors and health care professionals; and the Alabama Department of Labor will be providing employment classes.

During the event, these veterans will have counselling, employment classes, participate in group activities, enjoy fishing, movies, a bonfire, home-cooked meals, etc. etc. This is a three day event that begins with an escorted ride from Montgomery up to Camp Chandler this Friday, August 5th. It is for this 45 minute escorted ride that the American Legion has invited PGR to support/participate. We will stage in the Paterson Field parking lot (the baseball stadium across from the Crampton Bowl) at 09:30. If you have flags for your bike, this is the time to fly them. If not, don’t worry about it…your presence is what will be appreciated and remembered by these vets.

We participated in this event last year and in addition to being a rewarding experience for our riders, it was truly appreciated by the veterans that we honored. I hope you will be able to join in this ride to honor these living heroes that are so often forgotten by the rest of our society.

These veterans are living American Heroes who deserve the best that we can provide. They stood and fought on various battlefields for our nation, and in a very real sense are still fighting that fight and paying the price for that service. This is our chance to stand in support of them and honor their service to us. I hope to see you there.
