Patriot Guard Riders

We have been invited to attend the Stars and Stripes Honor Flights again this year. Our next flight is scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2016. I don’t have the numbers on the heroes going on this trip but the schedule is the same as most flights in the past.

Remember, this is our opportunity to say thank you to these men and women while they are still with us. So far nearly 4,000 of our WWII veterans have made the trip and almost 1,500 of our heroes from the Korean Conflict. As usual, World War II and Korea veterans and their guardians and medical staff will start arriving at Mitchell Airport at 5:00 a.m. and return home at 8:30 p.m.

The public is not invited to attend the departure but the PGR are invited to stand a flag line to welcome the veterans and their escorts and assist with getting them and their personal effects from curb to check-in and assisting when they return.

Morning Departure Itinerary

Staging 4:00 a.m.

As D concourse is right across from the Harley shop, we will stage at the top of the escalators, there are some tables and chairs.

Those standing the flag line should assemble by 4:30 a.m.

Evening Return Itinerary

Staging 7:30 p.m. same location as above.

You’ll have to pay for your own parking unless you’re on 2 wheels. The motorcycle free parking lot is available to us. It’s on the left side as you come past baggage/passenger pick-up.

Note: New airport management has expressed concern about the return aisle being kept clear. Anything we can do to help would be appreciated.
