Once more the PGR has the privilege to be invited to be present at the 2nd “Honor Flight” for members of “America’s Greatest Generation” as they depart Columbia Airport to visit the WWII Memorial, Arlington Cemetery and other memorials in Washington DC.

Early Wednesday morning, April 15th, approximately 80 South Carolina WWII veterans will be arriving around 6:00am in preparation for this complimentary tour, which will be departing at 8:00am. We will have the chance to meet & chat with these “Heroes” for a short period, prior to forming an Honor Corridor of Flags in the lobby, for them to pass through as they head towards the boarding gates.

Join me for this moving occasion to look them in the eyes, give them a hug and thank them for the freedom they provided us with their service to this great country. We are loosing our WWII veterans’ daily so take this occasion to mingle and show your appreciation for their sacrifices of so many years ago.

Those that were honored to attend the inaugural flight back in November spoke of how they were amazed at the feeling they got and couldn’t wait for the next Honor Flight. In Tom Bellomy’s ride report, he ended with this thought:

I’ll close with this, and I’ll never forget it. I went over to speak to one of these WWII Veterans and as I approached I noticed he was a D-Day survivor at Normandy. I thanked him for his service and shook his hand. His lips started to quiver and his eyes began to tear up and he just couldn’t speak. He just reached out and touched my flag and tugged on it for a moment, words weren’t necessary. I placed my arm around him, I couldn’t speak either. After we parted, I had to find a place and be alone for a few minutes. I’ll never forget that.”

Now is your chance to experience it for yourself. This one should not be missed.
