ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of Master Sergeant Herrmann “Dutch” Karl Grafner has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders to provide an escort and stand a flag line for his 1:30PM Military Honors at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. It is our distinct honor and privilege to do so. Dutch entered the United States Navy on Oct. 10, 1950 and attained the rating of Boilerman, 2nd Class. He served aboard the USS Dixie during the Korean War. Dutch entered the Unites States Air Force where he had a twenty (20) year career and saw action in Vietnam. Dutch was a Jet Engine Mechanic and a Flight Engineer Line Mechanic. Dutch was stationed at the Da Nang Air Base, also known as Rocket City because of the constant rocket and mortar attacks by the VC. On Nov. 30, 1971 Dutch was Honorably discharged, having attained the rank of Master Sergeant and Retired on Dec. 1, 1971. Dutch received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Bronze Star to name a few. Dutch remained a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. America has lost another True Patriot. The Grafner family has lost their loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. The Patriot Guard Riders extend our heartfelt condolences to Dutch’s family and friends for your loss.

RG’s along north wall closest to the street, riders by the south wall next to residential area.* Dale Judkins, Lead RG will have Road Guard Safety briefing at approx. 11:25am.* Family will arrive approximately 11:30am, if not sooner.* Honorable Transfer at 11:40am. PGR has been requested to provide pallbearers.* Safety Briefing with drivers at 11:45am. Expecting 6-8 cages, poss. 1 family rider.* KSU at 12:00pm.* Military Honors at 1:30pm.

* Meet Patty Palermo, Flag Captain, at Visitor’s Center.* Procession will stop at Visitor’s Center, approx. 12:50pm.* Circle of Honor at 1:00pm.* Upon conclusion of COH, riders will proceed to designated shelter to set flag line.* Honor Flag Bikes will escort hero and family to shelter.* Pallbearers will do Honorable Transfer to shelter upon arrival.* Military Honors at 1:30pm.
