ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Master Sergeant Herman C. Spann has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero by escorting & standing a silent flag line at his service. It will be our honor to do so.   Mr. Spann entered the Army August 1965 and served until August 1971, where he went into the Army reserve. He retired from the Army reserve in July 2002. While on active-duty, Mr. Spann was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze service stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle) and 2D Class Gunner M-60 MG. After his active-duty Mr. Spann worked for Greyhound Bus company starting out as a driver and working his way up to Trainer and Safety Coordinator, retiring after 20 years.

Special Instructions:

Stage in the back parking lot. After a short briefing, get lined up for a LEO assisted rolling honor guard to GNC. KSU scheduled for 8:40 am.  This will be executed at highway speeds.  Please ensure your flags will sustain highway speeds.  CDC guidelines for COVID-19 will be closely followed.  Please ensure you have a face covering.

If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.

Special Instructions:

Stage at the PIC Building and await the arrival of the escort. Cages park closely on both sides of the drive. Leave the area on left up front for bike parking. We will move to the assigned shelter when appropriate. Service is scheduled for 11:00 am.  Doc Griffin will provide flag wagon services.
Coronavirus precaution disclosure: Please bring a mask and wash hands often, be prepared to follow the guidelines to be outlined at the mission briefing. A general record of attendees will be held by the ride captain for a period not to exceed 2 weeks in the case of the need for contact tracing. If you test positive for COVID- 19 within 10 days of attending a mission please contact the Ride Captain with that information. Your name will NOT be disclosed. Those who are sick, have a household member or other close contact who is sick should not attend and those who have a higher risk of severe illness should weigh the benefits of in-person attendance against the risk of exposure to a person with COVID-19, especially if recommendations for wearing masks and social distancing may be difficult to follow for themselves or others.
