Another member of the “Greatest Generation” has completed his tour of Duty. The Family of World War Two Veteran, Herbert Smith have graciously invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their loved one at his services, to be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday, July 19, 2013.
Mr. Smith enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1945. He was tasked as a B-24 Aerial tail-gunner in the 740th Squadron, 455th Bombardment Group, 15th Army Air Force. He survived two airplane crashes, and was presented with the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Three Bronze stars, the Purple Heart, Aerial Gunner Badge, and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
Mr. Smith did not hesitate to serve his country during World War Two. Now it our turn to pay Honor and Respect to him at his final services for his dedication to preserving the freedoms we all enjoy.
This will be a flag line only mission at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Please bring your 3X5 flags for this Hero.
