The State of Mississippi and Monroe County has lost another Hero, Mr. Gordon “Red” Thompson has passed away, his family has requested the PATRIOT GUARD RIDERS honor and pay tribute to him for his dedicated service to our country.

Mr. Thompson honorably and proudly served in the US Army Infantry in both WWII and the Korean War. His many awards and citations include the SILVER STAR, the BRONZE STAR and the PURPLE HEART.
